DESCRIPTION:
LPW - Tiffany & Co, New York, Swiss made (likely by Longines), chronograph pendant watch with Tiffany & Co. signature to mvt, dial and case, 35mm, 18K gold OF original case with initials to rear, gold cuvette, white enamel SS impressed dial, SW-LS, lever escapement, 16J, fausses-côtes pattern nickel damascene, s#1401998 within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 22.3 dwt (34.8 g). A scarce and interesting small sized chronograph for Tiffany.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, chronograph function inconsistent as it allowed prodding to a few successful engagements but on our final attempt chronograph stopped with sweep hand at 1 and is now not resetting, overhaul needed for chronograph function, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, toning of plate surfaces, scattered fine to micro-fine scratches; dial with small patched edge chip near 1:30 with associated perimeter fracture between 12:30 and 1:30, very small perimeter hls at 12; excellent hands; case shows very light wear, ding to rear perimeter at left, few mild dings to band and bezel, mild ding toward cuvette perimeter adjacent pendant area, good engraving detail, stem detent screw in reverse of pendant appears to be a replacement with a somewhat larger head; tight bow, replacement crown shows hardly any wear but is somewhat large and perhaps not well suited to chronograph function; glass crystal with some bits of glue excess at its seat.
